End of May Garden Update

One of my favorite views; a sunrise over a foggy pasture and garden. :) Here you can see the isles of tomatoes, the teeny lemon tree bush, the peach tree, rows of blueberries and blackberries and just out of view is the mango tree.

 The okra in the raised bed is growing daily!

 Sweet onions are starting to bulb, next to them is all the lettuce varieties.

 And one of my favorite things to grow, the tomatoes, are finally turning those delicious hues.

I am going to have so many tomatoes this year...and I love it. A few of my plants are already as tall as I am and covered in little green tomatoes. 

I'll update you again in a few weeks when I start harvesting tomatoes by the truck load. ;)

A Hallway Light Update

Hi folks! We have some big projects in the works, but while that is going on, we did a simple light fixture update. Enter cheap-o and boring builder light in the hallway:

 And, we updated it to this beauty:

It's from the allen+roth collection at Lowe's and the Edison bulb is what really sold me. :) It's amazing something as simple as a light can do for a space!

Here in the south, it's that window of time where the cooler winter weather is ending but the summer heat hasn't arrived. We have a short "spring" but it makes for some beautiful days. :)

Master Bedroom Update

  We recently got a new king mattress (finally!) and found a beauty of a bed frame at an estate sale. Wonderful happenings such as this call for a revamp of our master bedroom!  Sadly, I don't have any before pictures, but it was a sad state as far as my decorating went. I am still wanting to add something above the headboard but the pitch of the roof has me stumped as to what would look best. I was thinking a basket with a low profile, perhaps? When I find the perfect item, I will update this post.  The bed frame is Stanley and we got it for about 1/10th of what it is actually worth. Best day ever.

That is all I have for now until I find the perfect piece to put above the bed.

Rustic Hanging Snowflakes

I hope everybody is having a wonderful weekend! The southeast is slowly starting to feel some of the cooler weather the rest of country has been battling. 

I keep adding to and tweaking my decorations...that's the fun of it, right?! 

I recently stumbled across this tutorial at Stephanie Lynn's blog and knew I had to make myself some clothespin snowflakes. Such a genius and simple idea...it's like clothespins were made just for this purpose. You can check out her post for an awesome in-dept tutorial.

Well, I whipped my self up some of those and wanted to hang them from the curtain rods in the front room that faced the porch. I love how they turned out! They are so simple but add such a sweet touch to the windows.

Christmas Tree O' Christmas Tree

One of these years I will choose a real tree...but not this year. :) I love how rustic and smell-goody real trees are but I also love how easy a faux tree is and how predictable the shape of it is.

Maybe next year we will have one of each. :)

As for what's on the tree itself, well, it's truly a mixture of the ornaments that tell the story of our lives...a bowling ball and pin ornament for that summer we did a couples bowling league...a goldfish ornament for the fish I had in my college dorm room days...a Lady and the Tramp Hallmark my husband gave me on our first Christmas as a couple. Just little nuggets to think so fondly about while putting up the tree every year. :)

 And of course, you can't have a burlap tree without a twine wrapped monogram. :)
