Bedroom Flooring

Hi folks!

I am SO excited to share this post with you. When we moved into our house, one of the first major changes we wanted to do was take out the carpeting in all the bedrooms. And not because it was in bad condition or stained but because the previous owners chose the ugliest strangest colors. Picture AstroTurf green, a weirdly bright navy blue and this color as the bedroom carpets:

A strange maroon red that just absolutely did not fit my style. :)
So, we started looking at different types of flooring and figuring out what stain we wanted to go with and ended up buying from our local Lumber Liquidators. They had the best prices around and I am in love with what we chose:
:)!!!
I feel like Goldilocks...the floor is not too light, not too dark and has such a lovely warmth. Ahhh. Gorgeous.
And because everybody loves a good before and after...

On to the next rooms! :)

Styling Shelves

Hi folks!

I  recently picked up a glass cloche from Hobby Lobby (80% off sale, woot woot!) and wanted to restyle our shelves to make room for it. :)  I really like how it all turned out so I wanted to share it with you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Kitchen Shelves and A Coffee Station

Hi folks!

This week, I did added a little somethin' somethin' to a blank wall space in our kitchen/dining room between the window and where the kitchen cabinets start. Using this Ana White plan I made 2 two foot shelves to fit the space. I shopped the house and found things to put on the shelves but I am excited for the prospects of holiday decorations going up there when the time comes. (And can I say that this Florida heat is making me want to fast forward to fall!)
It took me about 3 hours to cut, prep, paint, put together and hang. I am very pleased with the outcome and it ended up being a super cheap project as well; I found some nice looking pieces of lumber for cheaper than I thought would work just as well as the higher priced lumber. The paint I used was Valspar Mark Twain House Brown. (Shout out to the freebie sample coupon in the BH&G mag! ;)) It's a very pretty brown with the slightest smokey taupe hint.
I also wanted to show you my coffee station. I use the Ikea cart for extra storage and to house my K-cups in the top shelf basket. And, I am in love with that mug rack from World Market!
The shelf after I hung it up. It has four inches of room to put stuff on.

Thanks for taking a look and I hope you enjoy your weekend! :)
